Where appropriate, imaging or investigations such as X-rays, ultrasound, MRI scans or nerve conduction studies may be recommended to help clarify the diagnosis and guide treatment decisions.

Non-operative treatment is considered first where appropriate and may include splinting, hand therapy, physiotherapy, injections, activity modification or observation. Surgical treatment may be discussed when symptoms persist despite conservative management, when investigations suggest it is appropriate, or when a patient’s goals are unlikely to be achieved without intervention.
